The Tipton Police Department participates in the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program. D.A.R.E. is currently taught at Tipton Elementary School at the 5th grade level. This program is 10 weeks long. The program focuses on choices and consequences of drugs, bullying, and violence, among other topics. Current graduation is approximately 125-150 students per year. Donations to support the D.A.R.E. program are gratefully accepted and may be made to the Tipton County Sheriffs Department c/o D.A.R.E.
SHOP WITH A COP
The Tipton Police Department participates in the Shop with a Cop program. Shop with a Cop is used as a method of community outreach to assist families during the Christmas season who need help providing a cheerful holiday for their children. The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #109 sponsors the event. Local police officers take children shopping for items they both need and desire, such as but not limited to, clothes, winter garments, footwear, toys, and movies. Applications for families to be considered for the Shop with a Cop program can be found in the document center. Donations to the Shop with a Cop program can be made to Tipton F.O.P. Lodge #109 c/o Shop with a Cop and any such donations are tax deductible.
