The Tipton County Courthouse experienced a lighting strike during the night of September 24th, 2018. We are still assessing the extent of damage and working with insurance adjusters and contractors to restore operations. Currently, the elevator is inoperable. A new motor has been located and is on its way to Indiana. It will take a crane to remove the old motor and install the new motor on the fifth floor. We are hopeful that it will be installed soon.
IN the meantime, individuals who need services from offices located in the upper floor of the Courthouse, we are unable to ascend the staircase, may enter one of the first-floor offices and they can call for someone to come down to the first floor to render the needed service.
We are sorry for the inconvenience and hope to have full services restored soon.
Gregg A. Townsend
Tipton County Auditor
